There is a high rate of respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Newfoundland and Labrador. Respiratory disease is often chronic and can be a major cause of mortality. However, timely care, support and access to the right tools can help patients self-manage and take control of their lung disease, leading to a better quality of life. The provincial Comprehensive Respiratory Care program is aimed at improving access to services and promoting lung health in NL.
